August Star “Augie” Jr., a successful theater actor known as The Star, returns to his childhood hometown for a break after his demanding manager pressures him toward a screen career. His return is prompted by a detour he takes while delivering a specialty car to Las Vegas.

He tries to reconnect with his estranged father, The Keeper, who was once a lighthouse keeper but now lives in an assisted living facility suffering from memory loss. The strained relationship—due to Augie’s absence and his father’s condition—forms the crux of the plot. During his efforts to make up for lost time, Augie uncovers a family secret, forcing him to re-evaluate his relationship with his father and, fundamentally, with his faith.
